Look up sustainability events to attend
What I Actually Executed
Everything! Today I wasn’t a useless goat. I got to about 5 jobs on the spready. Also, I was able to properly prepare for each call which helped me yield a lot of good info from the calls. Here’s my process for how I prep for my calls and here are some questions that I usually ask on these calls.
Results/Updates
The calls went great. They connected me with potential job opportunities, resources, and other folks in the field. I feel a sense of accomplishment with the jobs, but I’m not expecting to hear back from any for some time.
Reflection
Y’all remember the recruiter from Day 13? Yea, that recruiter ghosted me. They said that I would hear back from them over a week ago. I reached back out and the recruiter that was on some “ping me and I’ll get back to you” typa stuff left me on Read. A whole me! A whole READ. ROY G BIV kinda read. That’s fine, maybe he got abducted by some aliens and had to forfeit all the work he was supposed to do. This is why I don't spend too much time reaching out to recruiters. Their job is to get people hired, not to get YOU hired. They work for THE COMPANY, not THE JOB SEEKER. This is why its best to reach out to folks that ACTUALLY work in the sustainability field. They know best and will ACTUALLY get you in the right direction. I’m also just gonna use this as an opportunity to see this as God’s NO for me. The door is CUH-LOSED!!!.

Anywhooooo (what, when, where & why), the talks made me realize where in the environmental sustainability space I see myself. Climate analytics, GIS, and outdoorsy stuff. Those are the directions where I am going for {jobs I am applying to}. Also these are the events I am going to this week: Black Spaces in Green Spaces, Dept of Watershed Management Career Fair, the IGEL Summit, and the ATL Women in Sustainability Meetup.
