Plan for the Day
(We are basically reliving yesterday lol)
Call the number that the project manager at the Ralph David House gave me to contact the dude in charge
Look through the LinkedIn connections of my contact that wants to introduce me to people in their network of my choosing
Dust off some old email convos
Use my GIS and Remote Sensing textbooks to better articulate those skills on my resume
Fill out ALL the jobs on the spready
What I Actually Executed
I did Tasks 1-3. Redemption! It was a network-y kinda day and I was a tad bit nervous (idk why though because this has LITERALLY been my life lately). Idk why nerves came over me. I didn't get to all the jobs in my spready but I did add more to it. I kinda touched on Task 4 because I used other job descriptions and convos rather than my textbooks to add relevant skills to my resume. I’m finding that the more I talk to people in my field, the more I understand how to articulate my skills and basically talk my sh*t. Plus there are specific questions I have learned to ask during a networking call that get me to the answers that I need.
Results/Updates
A sense of accomplishment and a calendar filled with calls. Things are happening! Like Jell-O, I’m moving out here!
Reflection
This week started off as rough as dry skin, but we came through. Like a rubber ball thrown at the wall, I bounced back! I was teetering between excitement and disappointment these past few days. I was excited with the responses and results but disappointed at how I let myself fall off a bit. I can’t afford to take my foot off the gas like I said earlier. I’m coming out of this with more than just a job. DISCIPLINE, sis!
