SECURE the Job Journey - Day 1

Plan for the Day

  1. Fill out at least 3 applications that I added to my job hunting spready (that’s what I call spreadsheets, just roll with it). To help me stay organized while I job-SECURE I created THIS spready and to help me organize my life I created THIS spready

  2. For each job application I fill, I like to connect and message 3 people who work for the company and then connect with three people with similar job titles. The people with the similar jobs titles don't have to be from the same company you applied to. This is to help me talk to people in my field and get a better understanding of what certain roles are like.

  3. Restructure my budget to see what I can save on so I don't have unnecessary money going out while I’m trying to snatch up one of these jobs. Here is the budgeting spready I created that helps me stay on top of my finances.

  4. Send resumes to people in my network who I asked for some job hunting assistance.

  5. Reach back out to people I have previously interviewed with to inquire about any openings

  6. Follow up with people that I have previously connected with.

What I Actually Executed

I got Tasks 4-6 accomplished. Honestly I felt more drawn to reaching out to warm leads since in the past, I’ve noticed that I have had more luck with getting jobs with direct referrals from people I know than from just applying to postings on job boards. I felt like that was a better use of my time today.

Results/Updates

Some people responded and directed me to opportunities within their company to apply for. It seemed very fruitful with less effort than it would have taken me to apply to new job listings on job boards.

Reflection

Even though I did get some hits, I still am going to try and apply to at least 3 jobs from my {spready}. Thai will help me at least discover different job titles and companies out in these streets. The traction boosted my confidence and made me feel really hopeful. Even though I am back to the drawing board with job hunting again, I feel good knowing that I have more to draw with. I have more experience, I am more confident to talk my sh*t, I have a WHOLE, ENTIRE & COMPLETE master’s degree, and I gathered up this LEED Green Associate professional credential. Things are looking up!
