Dust off old email messages
Go through 3 LinkedIn groups and message 10 people per group
Send LinkedIn request notes to 5 people with the following job titles
Sustainability Analyst
GIS Technician
Environmental Scientist
GIS Analyst
Sustainability Consultant
Send LinkedIn request notes to 5 people in sustainability department at some companies
What I Actually Executed
Tasks 1 and 2, fully. Because of some people having the job titles of interest in Task 4 or being connected to the companies listed in Task 5, I feel like I touched on those tasks a bit. Task 3 didn't even get touched.
Results/Updates
Folks got back to me! One person led me to some good advice about making a dashboard with ArcGIS pro. Another person is introducing me to someone that works in renewables. I’ve never thought of looking over there at renewables for a job, but I guess I’ll turn over that stone. Folks from 6 companies got back to me to connect. Exciting!
Reflection
I got discouraged because folk keep saying filling out job applications are useless, yet I feel a bit stressed that I haven't completed filling out the apps I have on my spready. For some reason I have it in my head that I’m missing out on the slight chance that I may get an opportunity.
Phew!! The drama! To fill or not to fill!
I made the executive job hunting decision that filling out the job apps is JUST for the momentum. I crave a sense of accomplishment. So I will just fill them out just for the formalities and then use them as a guide for who to talk to on LinkedIn.
These next couple of days are just for getting the ball rolling. I’ll let God handle the other stuff.
It’s ghetto out here in these job hunting streets, but I KNOW I’ll make it.
